Heritage Hotels and the Great Rift Valley Lodge have developed a brick-making program for the local community which has helped to build two new classrooms for the Green Park Nursery School, and office and a library for the community. Green Park's shareholders donated five acres of land for this project. Currently the Nursery School has a population of 60 children between the ages of 2 and 7 years. Great Rift Valley Lodge also pays salaries for the two teachers, while providing lunch for all the children and teachers daily, including weekends and public holidays. Heritage Hotels is also involved with the neighboring Eburu Secondary School and have in the past provided them with exercise books and writing pens. At the moment, the school serves the families who are employed locally in the tourist industry. Heritage Hotels plans to purchase computers to provide lessons for the lodge staff as well as provide evening classes for the staff to improve overall literacy levels as well as empowerment in a changing world.
